The high stake election in Punjab is underway as the polling started in the state on 4th feb. at 8 AM. The state of Punjab has approx. 1,98,79,068 voters comprising 1,50,3108 males, 93,75,546 female & 415 others voters. There are total 22600 polling station. out of total voters of punjab the proportion of dalit voters is 33% (approx) and 22% of  Jat voters approx. The three main contenders are the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal & BJP  alliance, the Indian National Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party & LIP alliance, . In the state of 117 assembly seats. 1145 candidates are there in which only 7 percent are women. There are 117 seats for which Congress is fighting while the AAP is fighting on 112 seats while LIP has fielded its candidates only in 5 seats. SAD is fighting on 94 seats while BJP has fielded its candidates only in 23 seats. On the same day there is one more parliamentary election in Amritsar seat between ............................................ The result would be out on 11 March 2017
